PREP SMARTER, GROW BETTER
Explore our range of mushroom grow bags, designed to support every stage of mushroom cultivation. From preparing grain spawn to growing mushrooms in bulk substrate, our durable, autoclavable bags offer a practical solution for hobbyists and commercial growers alike.
01 What are mushroom grow bags used for?
Mushroom grow bags are used to prepare, sterilise, and hold grain spawn or substrate during mushroom cultivation. They provide a convenient environment for mycelium colonisation and can also be used for fruiting certain mushroom species, including Oyster, Lion's Mane, and Shiitake.
02 Do mushroom grow bags come with substrate or spawn?
No, our mushroom grow bags are supplied empty and do not include substrate, grain spawn, or liquid culture. This allows you to choose your preferred growing materials and prepare your own setup according to your cultivation needs.
03 What is the difference between grow bags with and without injection ports?
Grow bags with injection ports are designed for inoculating grain with liquid culture without opening the bag, helping reduce contamination risks. Grow bags without injection ports are typically used for preparing and sterilising bulk substrates, which can then be mixed with colonised grain spawn. Both types serve different purposes during mushroom cultivation, allowing you to choose the right bag for your growing needs.
04 What are filter patches on mushroom grow bags for?
Filter patches allow gas exchange while helping prevent airborne contaminants from entering the bag. This is important during mycelium colonisation, as the growing mycelium needs oxygen and releases carbon dioxide. Different filter types and sizes are available to suit various cultivation requirements.
05 Are your mushroom grow bags autoclavable?
Yes, all our mushroom grow bags are autoclavable and designed to withstand pressure sterilisation. This allows you to sterilise grain or substrate directly inside the bags before inoculation, helping minimise contamination risks. Always follow the recommended sterilisation procedures for your equipment.
06 How do I choose the right size mushroom grow bag?
The right size depends on the amount of grain or substrate you intend to use and your cultivation method. Smaller bags are suitable for compact growing setups, while larger bags accommodate bigger batches. Make sure to leave enough space inside the bag for mixing, gas exchange, and proper sealing.
07 Can mushroom grow bags be reused?
We don't recommend reusing mushroom grow bags. Although they're made from durable, autoclavable materials, thoroughly cleaning used bags can be difficult, particularly around the filter patches and seams. Using a fresh bag for each grow helps minimise contamination risks and maintain a cleaner cultivation environment.
